At Caterpillar, Benjamin was service engineer in Australia, product support manager in Beijing, HR manager in Hong Kong, General Manager in Shanghai in charge of Caterpillar dealers in Central China and in Singapore
where he was human resource director for Caterpillar Asia.

Benjamin first joined Caterpillar in Australia in 1976. He left Caterpillar in 1996 and assumed senior leadership VP HR positions with F&N Coca-Cola, Seagram and World-Wide Shipping, where he harnessed his organization development skills to manage change and develop employee engagement to embrace new organization cultures at the Asia Pacific level. In 2002, he re-joined Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, Illinois, USA.

Benjamin holds dual MBAs, MSc in Training and PhD in Business &Management from the University of South Australia (2004). Ben graduated as a marine engineer from Singapore Polytechnic in 1973.
